Gaudham Yojana Chhattisgarh

Chhattisgarh is an agricultural state where a large number of rural families depend on agriculture and animal husbandry for their livelihoods. Keeping this in mind, the Chhattisgarh government has launched the Gaudham Scheme. Through this scheme, care of bovine animals and financial assistance will be provided to cow protectors and shepherds.

The problem of stray and abandoned animals, shortage of fodder and decreasing profits of traditional farming have emerged as challenges for the farmers in the state. Gaudham Yojana is created to improve cattle productivity, especially in milk yield, and make them more useful for agriculture.

What is Chhattisgarh Gaudham Yojana?

Gaudham Yojana in Chhattisgarh will provide several benefits to rural areas by combining animal welfare with livelihood opportunities. Under this scheme, protection of livestock, breed improvement, employment to villagers as well as promotion of organic farming and cow-based industries are to be done. The state government has already issued orders to the collectors to implement the scheme.

Eligibility Criteria for Gaudham Scheme

  • The applicant must be a citizen of Chhattisgarh.
  • Cow herders and shepherds will be eligible to benefit from the scheme.
  • NGOs, trusts, farmer producer companies, and cooperative societies can also avail the benefits of the scheme.
  • Applicants must not be less than 18 years of age.

Financial Structure of Gaudham Yojana

Fodder Development

For fodder development under the Gaudham Yojana, total allocated amount for 5 acres is ₹2,85,000. Only those government lands will be selected for building Gaudham where there is facility of safe enclosure, animal shed, water and electricity.

Under the Gaudham Yojana, a maximum of 200 animals can be kept in each cowshed. Under this scheme, shepherds will be provided a monthly salary of Rs 10,916 and cow protectors Rs 13,126. These will be developed not only as places to keep animals but also as training centres, fodder production hubs and cow product manufacturing units.
