West Bengal government has launched Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme for women from from economically weaker families. The program aims to empower women between the ages of 25 and 60 by providing them with financial assistance. Under Laxmi Bhandar scheme, state government will provide monthly Rs. 1000 to families of general category (Yearly Rs. 10,000) and Rs. 1,200 to families of SC/ST (Yearly Rs. 14,400).
What is Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme
Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme is a flagship program launched by the West Bengal Government. It provides a fixed monthly financial assistance directly to women’s bank accounts. Through this scheme, financial assistance is being provided to women heads of more than 2 crore families of West Bengal. The scheme aims to empower women and make them financially independent.
Laxmi Bhandar scheme is introduced by the West Bengal state government with the following objectives:
- Financial Empowerment: Provide direct cash transfers to eligible women.
- Economic Support: Offer financial assistance to low-income families.
- Social Welfare: Enhance the social security net for women in economically disadvantaged situations.

Lakshmi Bhandar Eligibility Criteria
- Be a permanent female resident of West Bengal.
- The applicant should be a woman.
- The age of the applicant should be between 25 – 60 years.
- The household of the applicant should be enrolled under the “Swasthyasathi” scheme.
- Casual worker in the states is eligible to get benefits from the scheme.

How to Apply for the Lakshmir Bhandar Scheme
You can apply for Lakshmir Bhandar offline through Duare Sarkar camps or your local BDO/SDO/KMC office by filling the official application form and submitting required documents.
Step 1: Collect the Lakshmir Bhandar application form free at Duare Sarkar camps or at BDO (rural), SDO (urban), or KMC offices.
Step 2: Fill in the application form by entering the required details.
Step 3: Submit the application form along with the required documents and the self-attested copies at BDO in rural areas, SDO in urban areas.
Step 4: The applications received at the respective offices will be verified and accordingly entered into the portal by the officials.
Step 5: The BDO, SDO or KMC will recommend the list of eligible applicants to the District Magistrate.
Step 6: Once your application has been verified and sanctioned and the financial assistance will be credited to your bank account every month.
