The central government will soon issue Farmer ID cards for farmers. This ID card will be similar to the Aadhaar card and will allow farmers to directly access benefits from various government schemes. The government is starting registration for this soon. With this “Farmer ID,” farmers will no longer need to go through the KYC process repeatedly.
Farmers face various difficulties in accessing benefits from government schemes. Because of this, the central government has decided to introduce a unique ID, which will be issued to every farmer.
What is Farmer ID Card?
The Kisan Unique ID card will connect farmers from all states through a single portal. This will allow them to directly benefit from central government schemes. This ID will also help with MSP crop prices and the Kisan Credit Card scheme. Farmers can avail of various government schemes through this card. Nearly 3 million Farmer IDs have been created so far. The government plans to launch a nationwide digital crop survey within the next two years.

To benefit from any government scheme, farmers are subject to scrutiny of all documents before applying. This wastes a lot of time and money for farmers. To get rid of this problem, the government has decided to collect all the information of farmers through Farmer ID Card.

How to apply for Farmer ID Card
Similar to the Aadhaar card, the Farmer ID will be a digital means of identification for farmers. Camps will be set up across the country to provide these identity cards to farmers. Applications can be made both online and offline.
Create a new account
- First, you need to visit the official website of the Kisan Card Registry.
- On the home page, you will see the Farmer option. Click on it.
- After this, click on the ‘Create New User Account’ option to create a new account.
- To do this, enter your Aadhaar number and click Submit.
- An OTP will now be sent to your Aadhaar-linked mobile number, which you must enter to verify.
- Your Aadhaar details will be automatically fetched into the system, allowing you to view all the information.
- Now you will need to verify by entering your mobile number again.
- Set a secure password and click on ‘Create My Account’.
Farmer Registration
- After creating a new account, log in.
- Then click on the ‘Register as Farmer’ option.
- You will now be asked if you want to update your mobile number. If you don’t want to do so, click on the ‘No’ option.
- You will then be asked for your details, such as your name, category (SC/ST/OBC/General), and address. Whatever information you provide must be accurate.
- If there are any mistakes in your name, correct them.
- Now, update your residence details if your address has changed.
