Chhattisgarh is an agricultural state where a large number of rural families depend on agriculture and animal husbandry for their livelihoods. Keeping this in mind, the Chhattisgarh government has launched the Gaudham Scheme. Through this scheme, care of bovine animals and financial assistance will be provided to cow protectors and shepherds.
The problem of stray and abandoned animals, shortage of fodder and decreasing profits of traditional farming have emerged as challenges for the farmers in the state. Gaudham Yojana is created to improve cattle productivity, especially in milk yield, and make them more useful for agriculture.
