Government schemes for farmers – Benefits, Apply, Status Check

Government schemes for farmers

Agriculture remains the backbone of India’s economy, employing over 50% of the nation’s workforce. Government schemes for farmers provide financial support, subsidies, and modern technology whenever possible. These schemes aim to increase farmers’ income and create awareness about modern farming. Financial assistance is also provided to farmers.

The central and state governments have launched various beneficial schemes for farmers, ranging from financial assistance to providing agricultural equipment. Let us take a look at the major schemes which are playing an important role in strengthening the economic condition of the farmers.

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)

Agriculture is always a risky business. Natural disasters, such as floods, droughts, or pest attacks, can ruin farmers’ hard work. Therefore, the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana provides crop protection. This allows farmers to receive financial assistance in the event of crop failure. Register via local banking institutions, through insurance corporations, or on the internet.

Kisan Credit Card Schemes (KCC schemes)

Providing timely financial assistance for agricultural work is one of the most pressing needs of farmers. Therefore, the central government has launched the Kisan Credit Card Scheme, under which loans are provided to farmers at concessional interest rates. Through this, farmers can buy seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, or agricultural equipment.

PM Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana has been launched to ensure farmers’ financial security in their old age. Eligible farmers receive a direct payment of ₹6,000 annually, split into three equal payments of ₹2,000 each. This scheme not only strengthens farmers’ economic position but also provides social security.

Namo Drone Didi Scheme

The Namo Drone Didi Scheme aims to promote technological innovation in agriculture and empower women. The scheme aims to strengthen the economic well-being of women self-help groups (SHGs) in rural areas by providing them with drones. Farmers can use drones to spray pesticides, monitor soil, and inspect crop conditions.

PM-KUSUM Scheme

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Surakshaevam Utthaan Mahabhiyan Yojana subsidizes farmers to install solar irrigation pumps for cultivation. Under this scheme, solar pumps are being provided to farmers for crop irrigation. Each farmer will receive a 60% subsidy to set up tube wells and pump sets.

These schemes aim to strengthen farmers’ economic status, increase their self-reliance and self-confidence, and also connect them with modern farming.
