Indian Railways is planning to bring new Luggage Weight & Size Chart and Rules in 2025 for passengers. Indians railways, however, do not allow travellers to carry extra luggage or livestock due to rules imposed by them. Passengers can carry luggage beyond the free allowance in the compartment up to the maximum limit.

Railway New luggage weight and size limits have been set for every class in trains, and extra charges will apply if weight goes above the free allowance.

Every passenger also gets an extra 10 kg. If your luggage is heavier than the limit, you have to book it separately, or you will be charged a fine. Non-travelers will need a platform ticket which will be treated as a visitor pass.
