Jewelry exports are increasing every year, so the Maharashtra government has launched the Gems and Jewelry Course Scheme. This course provides training in jewelry design, gemology, manufacturing, and quality control.
What is Maharashtra Gems & Jewellery Course Scheme
Jewelry design is the art or profession of designing and creating jewelry. Gems & Jewellery Course will teach youth the modern methods used by global jewelry brands. This course can be pursued at various academic levels such as undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma. This step of the government is being considered an important step towards modernizing the traditional jewellery business and providing new opportunities to the youth.
Eligibility and Course Details
These certificate courses are open for students who have passed at least 12th standard. Anyone interested in jewellery industry jobs, whether freshers or working individuals, can apply.
The courses will cover multiple areas:
- Jewellery design and manufacturing

Online Application Process
STEP 1: Go to the official Maharashtra State Skills University website at mssu.ac.in
STEP 2: On the homepage, click on “Short Term Skilling Certifications” under the Skill School menu and then click on “Gems & Jewellery” course on the next page.
STEP 3: Click on the apply online option and fill in your personal details like name, mobile number, email ID, and Aadhaar number to create an account.
STEP 4: Upload scanned copies of required documents such as ID proof, educational certificates, and recent passport-size photo.
STEP 5: Choose your course preference like jewellery design, gemology, or quality control.
STEP 6: Pay the registration fee (if applicable) through online payment modes provided on the portal.
STEP 7: Finally, submit the form and download the acknowledgement slip for future reference.
