The central government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana to ensure that pregnant women are properly cared for and their nutrition is not compromised. It aims to provide financial assistance and improve the health of pregnant women.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, ₹5,000 is deposited into a mother’s account to care for her child. Additionally, ₹6,000 is given for the birth of a girl. So far, more than 42.6 million women have registered for this scheme.

What is Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana?
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is the full form of PMMVY. It is a maternity benefit scheme run by the central government. The objective of this scheme is to improve the health of mother and child by providing financial assistance to pregnant and lactating women.
Eligibility for PMMVY Scheme
The main aim of the scheme is to provide at least Rs. 5000 as a cash incentive to pregnant women. The following eligibility criteria for availing of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana benefits.
- The woman is an Indian citizen.
- The pregnant woman must be at least 19 years of age or older.
- This scheme is only applicable for the first live child. However, the second benefit will be available only upon the birth of a daughter.
- If a second pregnant woman gives birth to twins, one of whom is a girl, she will receive the PMMVY 2.0 benefit.
- The pregnant woman’s family must have an annual income of less than ₹8 lakh.
- The woman must have a MNREGA card or be receiving benefits under the Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme.
- The woman must have an e-Shram card or a BPL card. The woman must be disabled.
- Pregnant and lactating women who are not in government employment (central or state government)
- Women who are not receiving benefits from any other government schemes

- To check your application status for the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, visit the official website.
- Here, click on Track Application Status.
- Enter your registered mobile number or beneficiary number, enter the Captcha code, and click Validate.
- You will be presented with the status of your application form.
Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana Online Apply
The following are the steps for online PMMVY registration.
Step 1: Citizen visit the official website of the Ministry and click on the Citizen login tab.
Step 2: Enter mobile number and verify. Then enter details like Full Name, State, District, Area, Block, Village and relationship with beneficiary.
Step 3: Once account is created. Click on Login tab on main homepage of the website.
Step 4: Now, enter the User ID, Password and Captcha code. Then apply for the scheme.
Step 5: After successful login, click on the “Data Entry” tab and choose the option “Beneficiary Registration”.
Step 5: Now, enter all the detailed personal details on the Beneficiary registration page.
Step 6: Choose suitable option under the Scheme applying for First Child OR Second Child.
Step 7: Once all the form details are completed. Click Submit Button.
The Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana form can be obtained from your nearest Anganwadi center or ASHA worker. Eligible women can apply to benefit from this scheme.
