Government of West Bengal has launched the Rupashree Prakalpa Scheme for one time financial grant of Rs. 25,000/- will be given to girls above 18 years old for marriage purpose. This scheme aims to reduce the financial burden on families and discourage child marriage.
The “Rupashree Prakalpa” scheme was launched by the Department of Women and Child Development. The scheme is implemented in all districts of West Bengal. The Rupashree Prakalpa Scheme help around 6 lakh girls belonging to economically weaker families in the State.

Rupashree Prakalpa Scheme
Many families face difficulties marrying off their daughters due to poverty. To address this issue, the West Bengal government has launched the Rupashree Prakalpa Scheme. Under this scheme, one-time financial assistance of ₹25,000 is provided for a girl’s marriage.
The primary objective of this scheme is to help girls belonging to the economically weaker families and make them self-dependent. WB govt. has launched the official portal for online registration form, fill it and submit it to avail benefits.

Eligibility Criteria
Any woman can apply to this scheme who proposes to be married if her application satisfies the following criteria:-
- Applicant girl must be a resident of West Bengal
- The proposed marriage is her first marriage.
- Applicant must be a minimum of 18 years of age
- Her prospective groom must be 21 years of age
- Annual family income of the applicant must not exceed Rs.1.5 lakhs
- No minimum educational qualification is necessary
- She has an active bank account for which she is the sole account-holder.
After entering the information in the application form, all the documents have to be attached, after which the application form has to be submitted to the BDO, SDO or Municipality office. After that, officials will verify the applicant’s information. If everything is found to be correct, they will receive the Rupashree assistance directly into their bank accounts within a week of the wedding.

- Certified copy of the birth certificate
- The details of the groom
- Proof of Residence
- Proof of proposed marriage
- The voter ID card and Aadhaar card
- Coloured passport size photographs
- Bank account details

Rupashree Prakalpa Scheme Application Process
Step 1: The applicants must visit the nearby Gram Panchayat, Municipal office, Block Development Officers (BDO).
Step 2: Ask the application form for Rupashree Prakalpa scheme from the concerned officer.
Step 3: Now fill all the necessary details in the application form and submit it to the office along with the required documents.
Step 4: The application form will be verified by the receiving officer and will return a duly signed and stamped acknowledgement slip to the applicant.
This completes the application process for the Rupashree Prakalpa Scheme. The sanctioned amount will be transferred through IFMS to the applicant’s bank account.
This initiative by the West Bengal government will free poor families from the burden of high-interest loans for weddings. This scheme will provide relief to poor families and ease their financial burden.
