Employment Linked Incentive Scheme (ELI) was announced to support job creation and strengthen India’s workforce. Under this scheme, the government will provide one month’s salary to about 1.92 crore youth. The ELI scheme aims to incentivise the creation of more than 35 million jobs over two years.

What is ELI scheme?

Under the Employment Linked Incentive (ELI Scheme), the central government had announced to give Rs 15,000 apart from their salary to the youth who get employed for the first time. The main purpose of Employment Linked Incentive Scheme is to give financial support to companies and new employees.

ELI Scheme Part A-for first-time employees

This section will provide a one-month EPF wage up to Rs 15,000 in two instalments. The second installment will be payable after 12 months of service. To qualify, employees must earn up to ₹1 lakh per month. 

ELI Scheme Part B to support employers

Part B focuses on creating more jobs, especially in manufacturing. All payments to the first-time employees will be made through the DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).

When will I get the money under the ELI scheme?

Under the Central Government’s ELI scheme, you will become eligible for this scheme as soon as your EPF account is opened. The Central Government will send the incentive amount through DBT to the bank account linked to your Aadhaar card.

  • The ELI scheme money will be paid in two installments.
  • The first installment will be paid after six months of employment.
  • The second installment will be received after 12 months and completion of the financial literacy program.
  • Some of this money will go into the PF account, which can be withdrawn later.

Eligibility Criteria for Employment Linked Incentive Scheme

  • Monthly pay should be less than ₹1 lakh, and enrollment with EPFO is required

  • If there are more than 50 employees, at least 5 new employees must be hired.
  • These employees must have worked with the company for at least 6 months.
