The Bihar state government has launched the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana to provide financial assistance to girls. Under this scheme, financial assistance is provided to students from the birth of their daughter until graduation. On birth of a girl child – Rs. 2,000 ; on 1st Vaccination: Rs. 1,000 ; on 1st Vaccination: Rs. 1,000 ; on Passing Intermediate or +2 Exam: Rs. 10,000; on Completing Graduation Degree: Rs. 25,000.

What is the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana?
Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana is an important social and educational scheme launched by the Government of Bihar. This scheme is to stop female feticide, encourage girl birth, encourage birth registration, reduce girl child mortality rate, promote girl education.
An important objective of the scheme is to promote the education of girls so that they can become self-reliant and live with dignity in the society. For this, a scholarship of ₹50,000 is provided to girls on passing graduation so that they can pursue their further studies or meet other necessary expenses of life.
The objective of the Chief Minister’s Kanya Utthan Yojana is as follows:
- Encouraging female students in Bihar to pursue education.
- Providing financial assistance of ₹50,000 to graduate female students.
- Making female students self-reliant and empowered.
- Assisting girls with further education and necessary expenses.
- Increasing awareness about education among girls.

Eligibility for Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana
- The girl children should be residents of Bihar.
- The birth has been duly registered.
- The benefit of this scheme will be payable to the girl child born from the date of issue of the notification.
- This benefit will be given only to two girl children of a family.
- Girl’s parents should not be working as a Government Employees
- A girl must belong to the EWS (Economically Weaker Section).
- Only Two girls from a family are eligible to apply for the scheme.

- The applicants can apply for the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthaan Yojana through the official website of Bihar.
- Applicant has to click on the MKUY application form and have to fill out the application form with all requested details in a prescribed format.
- After completing, attach the specified records along with the application form.
