The new Know Your Vehicle (Fastag KYV) process for FASTag users has been started officially by the NHAI across India. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) says the move is meant to tighten the system. If you are a vehicle owner then you must now how to complete KYV verification to keep your FASTag active for toll payments.
If you do not update the FASTag KYV in time, your FASTag may become inactive and you will not be able to make payments at any toll plaza. All vehicle owners must complete the Know Your Vehicle (KYV) process to keep using their FASTag.

Documents Required for FASTag KYV
Make sure these documents are ready before you start the KYV process:
- Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC) showing vehicle number and owner’s name.
- Valid ID Proof such as Aadhaar, PAN, or Passport.
- Front photo of the vehicle with visible number plate and FASTag.
- For commercial or fleet vehicles, some banks may ask for business registration documents.
FASTag KYV Online Process
STEP 1: Visit the official portal of your FASTag issuing bank or open its mobile app.
STEP 2: Log in using your registered mobile number or vehicle number and OTP.
STEP 3: Go to the section named “Know Your Vehicle” or “Update KYV”.
STEP 4: Select your FASTag and vehicle, including RC copy and one front image of the vehicle showing the number plate and a photo of FASTag being affixed on the windshield.
STEP 5: Complete the OTP verification and submit your request.
STEP 6: Once verified, your FASTag will show status as “Active and Verified”.

Check Status of FASTag & KYV
You can check the status of your FASTag KYV on the bank’s website itself and banks. You can check the status of your FASTag on the official NPCI website to check whether it is active or not.
Validity of KYV
Once KYV verification is complete, it stays valid until the vehicle is sold or its registration number changes. NHAI has warned that unverified or partially verified FASTags will be automatically deactivated. When vehical ownership transfer or a new registration number is issued, the process must be redone.
