Goa High Support Disability Scheme

The Goa government has officially launched the Goa High Support Disability Scheme, which will provide Rs 40,000 as one-time assistance for persons. The scheme may be availed once every five years. The scheme is designed to ease the financial burden on families supporting persons with severe disabilities.

The new scheme is provide of a ₹40,000 one-time financial assistance grant. The scheme specifically targets individuals classified under “Benchmark Disabilities.” Through this scheme, the Goa government wants to ensure that its benefits are available only to eligible citizens.

Eligibility

  • The applicant should be a Worker.
  • The worker should be between 18 to 60 years of age.
  • The worker should have completed ninety days of service as a registered worker in the year.
  • The applicant should be registered with the Goa Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board.
  • The applicant should be permanently disabled.
  • The disability should have been caused by Paralysis / Leprosy / Tuberculosis(TB) / Accident.

Documents Required

  • Worker Registration Card/Number.
  • Receipt of Payment of First & Last Subscription with the Board.
  • Disability Certificate.
  • Medical Certificate, stating the cause of the Disability.
  • Certificate from the Builder or Inspector of the Area, in the case of unregistered workers/ their dependents.

Application Process for High-Support Disability Scheme

The High-Assistance Disability Scheme was launched by the Social Welfare Department of Goa. It aims to integrate people with disabilities into the mainstream by providing them with assistance, not just financial assistance.

The applicant must have a valid disability certificate if he/she fulfils the criteria of “benchmark disability”. To register for the Goa High Support Disability Scheme.

To apply, eligible persons should contact the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPWD) or its designated offices. After which, along with entering the information in the application form, the required documents have to be submitted which includes the benchmark disability certificate.

The application form must be submitted along with Aadhaar card, Goa residence certificate, and account details. The form will then be verified by the department, and upon approval, the beneficiary will receive a lump sum of ₹40,000.

This grant helps reduce the financial burden on families caring for individuals with high support needs. This improves the family’s overall quality of life.
