Central government of India has launched CEIR Portal web portal ceir.gov.in to report phone theft. In case of stolen / lost mobile phone, you will have to make complaint registration at CEIR official website. The method of making complaint is very easy, you just have to go online and fill the registration form.

The Department of Telecommunications has been working on Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) since 2017. This is the data of all mobile numbers, through which any mobile can be blocked so that your important data is not stolen.

What is CEIR Portal?

If your mobile is stolen or lost, you can lodge a complaint by visiting the CEIR Portal official website. This portal allows you to locate and block your lost or stolen mobile phone through IMEI verification. The CEIR Portal acts as a central system for all network operators.

Even if the SIM card in the phone is replaced, the SIM data can be erased through the CEIR portal. This system will soon be implemented nationwide.

Eligibility and Prerequisites

  • Be the rightful owner of the mobile phone.
  • Have a valid police complaint (FIR) in case of theft.
  • Have the IMEI number of the lost or stolen device.
  • Provide a valid government-issued identity proof.
  • Report the theft to their network operator.

Block Your Device – Make Complaint Registration Online

  • File a report with the police, and keep a copy of the report.
  • Get a duplicate SIM Card for the lost number from your telecom service provider (eg, Airtel, Jio, Voda/Idea, BSNL, MTNL etc.).
  • Get your documents ready – a copy of police report and an Identity Proof must be provided.
  • Fill out the request registration form for blocking the IMEI of lost/stolen phone and attach the required documents.
  • After submitting the form, you will be given a Request ID.
  • The same can be used for checking the status of your request and for unblocking the IMEI in future.

To Unblock a Recovered Mobile Phone

  • Go to https://ceir.gov.in/.
  • Click on “Unblock Found Mobile”.
  • Enter your Request ID, IMEI, and mobile number.
  • Submit identity proof and a reason for unblocking.
  • After verification, your phone will be unblocked within a few working days.

Find Lost Mobile Using Google

  • Go to android.com/find or download the “Google Find My Device” app from the Play Store.
  • Now sign in to your Google Account.
  • If you have more than one phone, click the lost phone at the top of the screen.
  • If your lost phone has multiple user profiles, sign in with the Google Account that’s on the main profile.
  • The lost phone receives a notification.
  • On the map, you’ll see information about where the phone is.
  • Location is approximate and may not be accurate.
  • If your phone cannot be found, you’ll see its last known location, if available.
